I am strongly opposed to AGL's proposed gas import terminal for Crib Point. Unlike the major parties, I have the independence and freedom to genuinely oppose and stop this project.
On 27 March 2019, I supported the #SaveWesternport movement by lodging an official petition with the Federal Parliament, calling on the government of the day to block the project based on clauses designed to protect the internationally significant wetlands under the Ramsar Convention.
My opposition is also well documented in the Federal Parliament, where I spoke about the risks and community opposition to the project in this adjournment speech. During Question Time, I asked the Minister for the Environment whether the sitting Member for Flinders had made any representations to the Minister about his concerns for the project's impacts on protected wetlands.
